yes that is true that we need position and job details before looking out usin AC-21. I am in same boat, I have I-140 copy but nothing related to labor. I think I am stuck for next 3-4 years with current employer.

You'll have to file a Change of Status application with USCIS. If this is your first time H1-B, then you will be subjected to the cap.
2)Is it possible to convert back to h4? I have 2 kids so I might have to convert back to H4 from h1 if I cannot take the stress.

Literally, windsor(Canada) and Detroit (USA) are seperated by river, so keeping GC and PR is like riding in two boats ... not possible. While Canadians are liberal in allowing their immigrants to travel daily into US to conduct their jobs ( that brings easy tax $$), it would be inconvienent to track daily movements out of country for GC. Remember at US citizenship, you will be asked to provide detailed log of trvels outside the country. So trip to Windsor is technically outside the country.
I had Canadian PR and am giving it up, because I finally got GC. With GCI can trvel freely into Canada. Plus even before Canadian PR, I never lived in Canada nor do I plan to in future. So why bother.

i am not a lawyer, so what i state here is from my personal experience. i have been to hawaii on an H1B 3 years ago. there was absolutely no problem anywhere. its like flying to any of the 48 mainland states. no one asked for passports anywhere ( i did not even carry it).
I ofcourse flew to hawaii, but i have taken cruises to mexico.
as long as the cruise ship does not touch a foreign port, you are good. check with the cruise company if they need a passport. they usually have info on what is required. before entering the ship, your papers are checked and if there is something needed for immigration when you return(like from mexico), they wont let you in until you show them the documents.
since you are boarding from US, visiting an US state, coming back to US, there should be no problem.

I have a word of advice for you. Don�t use TOI (Times of India) style headlines to mislead people into reading your post. If you are one of those Indians who has an innate desire to look at everything with a shade of pink glasses you should reconsider living here. Airlines don�t fly one way from India to US. You can always take the flight back home. 16-hour workdays, a fantastic work life balance, and all basic amenities await you in the land of kamadhenu (the sacred mythological cow that gave the Hindu Gods everything they needed for a happy life)

No more "status changes" e.g. f1->h1, L1->h1,even h4->h1 is allowed. Only Extensions are allowed in Mexico..
The USCIS site clearly states :
Who Can Apply in Mexico
* Applicants seeking to renew their visa in any category except B1/2 (tourist/business), if the initial visa was issued in the applicant's home country.
Also Note(in blue font):
Notice: Certain visa applicants may be subject to additional administrative processing. This administrative processing may last weeks, thus delaying visa delivery and the applicant's return to the United States.

My daughter is now 22 years old and filed I-485 on behalf of me in the year 2007. That time she was only 19 years.
Now she is planning to get married before getting a green card. Her bride-groom is H-1 visa and not applied for labor. Will her I- 485 application be cancelled?.
I am also porting to eb-2 in the next three months. I am hoping to get green card may be after Sept 2011.
Suppose she gets married before the green card what will happend to her case. Please I need advise.

Thank you RoseBall for your response. Definitely will do. One thing I want to emphasise. I'm sure rejection happened in Feb/October 2007 due to some other reason. Because USCIS did not ask for my either past employment history or paystubs.Do you have any idea of any grace period like 30 days after H1B expiration date to file for extension?

but I did not find any college [small/medium/big ] which are offering MS program for below 6k including all.. I found few colleges who are offering at 6k, but their degress are not valid in INDIA/USA as they looks like diploma mills.
In a 4 months search I found one college [regionally acredited], which will cost 13k including every thing.
I found one more state college which are offering MS in computer science for 12k
These two colleges help us to transfer visa to F1 and chances to get work permission in 4 months [part time]
bottom line is: if you find any college [regionally acredited, not online university] which are offering masters program between 6 to 9k, please update me through this post

Friends, I Received the magic email today!
Yes - I cant believe my eyes, my I-485 has been approved today and card production ordered.
I do have a question: I could not file for my wife's i-485 in July/2007. So, we filed for my wife's application on Aug/01/2008 (Did a overnight express mail on July-31st) as my PD is current as of Aug-1st. So far her application check has not been deposited.
What will happen now? Is she out of status? I am getting really concerned. Gurus help me out?

Your wife is not out of status...you have applied and her official status is 485 applied and status pending. Keep her FedEx receipt handy till you get her official receipt. Dont worry its just 6 days past when you sent her application and there is a huge rush. You will get it soon and check would be encashed soon as well. My experience it takes time to get cash encashment particularly when there is a huge rush.

I called the USCIS number for info but can't speak to an operator.
My wife is planning on traveling to hawaii in december. She will have her drivers license by then. She has her I-485, I-130, I-765 and some other M109109 (whatever that is).
she wants to know if its ok for her to travel to hawaii (from florida). it's in the united states so i can't imagine there being an issue. she will be traveling to ohio later that month and to me its the same thing. I'm just trying to get the opinion from someone who would know for sure.

Hawaii is an outlying US state. Going to Hawaii should be no different than flying between two cities within continental US.
