Not sure if I would consider "AJA, BlackMagic, and Promise" to be "industry demand." :) I'll give ya Promise.
I would think having names like Western Digital, Sony, HP, Maxtor, Iomega, and Seagate a lot more proof that TB is being adopted. USB 3.0 has been gaining momentum by leaps and bounds over the past year.
I have a feeling TB is going to be the next Firewire: sure, it works, but USB is so much more dominant at basically the same speeds. But I don't really care at the end of the day...just something much much faster than USB 2.0 for my hundreds of gigs of data that I copy/move around a bit.
And yes, for the true true true speed fans that need the best of the best of the best in their profession...sure, buy what you need.

I bought a second apple TV for my bedroom, instead of buying a new TV, or a blu ray player, or another gizmo etc... so I could watch MLBTV and netflix, and have the ability to download movies occasionally.
I would happily pay for a new apple TV again this year and take the old one and hjook it up to one fo the other 3 televisions my house, if the features and upgrades were worth it to me.
Airplay is amazing.

The iPhone sets the bar. Google has to flood the market with a lot of junk to achieve higher share. That's hardly impressive. Google is the MS of mobile. Hardly a compliment. License out your beta OS to anyone that can slam together a box, give it away, and away you go.
The iPhone is still the #1 selling handset. Where are the iPhone killers? There aren't any. Because the competition doesn't know how to make one. Because Apple approaches tech from a totally different place.
The iOS platform still dominates, and given the iPad's success, it'll be that way for the foreseeable future.
Android enjoys highest smartphone market share. Yet the OS is pretty brutal and their ecosystem is a mess. So why do they have greater share? Not because they make a superior product, but because the only alternative to an iPhone was an Android-based device, and Eric T. Mole got to work licensing it out to everyone with no regard for design or User Experience. If you flood the market with what, 70+ (probably a lot more) devices and let everyone and their dog make the devices you'll eventually enjoy force of numbers.
Android is given away free to anyone to manufacture, to make as many POS devices as they wish, to sell for peanuts, in massive volume.
That's all it is. Market flooding at every price point and you get some sort of touchscreen and some sort of app store. And given Google's Microsoftian horizontal business model, that's all it'll ever be.

The top selling ones are not the dirt cheap ones it is the ones that compete directly with the iPhone in the high end smart phone. There are a lot of phones out there that top the iPhone. The Atrix, the G2X, Evo and multiple other ones are all better phones then the iPhone 4. The iPhone is a good phone, But is far from the best. It will never turn into a one horse game. There will never be an "iPhone Killer", And android is here to stay.

I always wondered if the rumors of the iPad3 for September is actually a smaller tablet designed to compete against the Barnes & Noble Nook Color and (possibly) an upcoming Amazon Kindle Android tablet. It would feature iOS 5, Retina Display (for easier reading), the iBookstore, and could run iPhone or iPod Touch apps. Market it as a separate product, and maybe even use the iBook name again.
Then again - after seeing a TV commercial for a Samsung TV that has a bunch of apps, maybe the Apple HDTV set isn't a bad rumor either.
Well, If I was in product development at Apple*, I might look around and see what the biggest iPad competitors were producing and come to the conclusion that if I produced a 7" iBook running iBooks and a few other iOS Apps and priced it to compete reasonably well with the Kindle, then launched it shortly before Christmas then I might hook quite a lot more customers into the Apple ecosystem.
At the same time I'd hopefully attract the I-have-a-laptop-so-I-don't-want-a-tablet-but-an-eReader-would-be-nice segment of the market which, judging by the number of MR posters saying that here, is quite large.
*But I'm not. However I'll have a tenner on at Ladbrokes that that's what's coming in September.:)

It use SOOOOOOO little amount of memory compare to Parallels (4xxMB vs 2.xxGB), so there is better system performance. I cannot wait to test it on my Macbook but the different on my Mac Pro was HUGE!!
I agree. VMware is already very good for a private beta (don't ask me how I got it ;)). Very fast already, and the app itself starts up about 5x faster than Parallels. And it uses a Cocoa native interface yay!

What if it's an actual Apple-branded TV? That's one of the latest rumors making the rounds, again :eek: Actually, if Apple did come out with their own HD (1080p) TV, I would be very interested in purchasing it. It would have TV built into it (of course), and therefore would be able to do everything TV can do, only without having to attach a set-top box to the TV. Additionally, since Apple is designing it, the new actual HDTV would be magical :D
I really don't see Apple making an HDTV, but I've been known to be wrong before (although I don't like to admit it :o).

All this messiness is why when I go Intel, I'll be looking at running the one Windows application I need--FrameMaker--under WINE/Crossover. No Windows code is necessary and thus no problem with licenses, legalities or paying Microsoft up to $300.
And since WINE/Crossover isn't Windows, merely letting Windows applications run under OS X, it isn't troubled by the 200,000 Windows viruses, trojans etc. lurking out there.
Lawsuits for violating some badly written EULA aren't your worst nightmare. Windows on your Mac means Windows viruses on your Mac and that's your worst nightmare.

From my own experience the PS3 and the Nintendo DSi all read iTunes purchased music, albeit with some metadata weirdness.Metadata weirdness is what I have encountered trying to use files that I have in iTunes. It does not occur when importing into iTunes though, only exporting elsewhere.
I know that I have plenty of .songname files in my folders as well. Why iTunes, why?

Second, if there was a new device or iOS>OSX functionality on the way, updating the App store to show compatibility would have been one of the very last stages before (or even after) launch. As we've had NO indication or rumours of either of these things being forthcoming, I really can't imagine a major launch by Apple within the next few days.
I'm going to speculate here. Lion is the eighth release of OS X. Perhaps the ninth release will support touchscreens and iOS apps.
I envision something like the Macbook Air with a touchscreen and reversible hinge (like the early 2000s Windows tablets, but a much cleaner design) that could run OS X and iOS apps. The Air is already not much bigger than an iPad.
Now, if Apple is internally working on something like this, and wanted to test existing apps from the store, then the alpha OS would need to be supported in the store. Of course, Apple probably intended to hide the string that IDs the compatibility, but sometimes mistakes happen.
Or, of course, the whole thing could be an accident/bug and it means nothing at all.

Why concede? I think we are examining obesity pretty well as a group. Furthermore, the current level of obesity is really everyone's problem, as the level affects our society as a whole.
This lady in question though blows my mind as the article has framed it to appear that her goal is to gain weight. Perhaps the article misinterpreted what she meant.
I would agree that we have steered this conversation away from the "eeeewww she's a horrid, disgusting pig" comments to more abstract concepts. Kudos.
The article, like most articles about this particular woman, was quite sensationalized. Then again, the reporter didn't misinterpret by much, because this woman played along with it for a while (and has been in a feeder/feedee relationship for some time). Afterward, in an attempt at "damage control", she said that the thousand-pound thing was more of a fantasy than an attainable goal, but by then, the exaggerated perceptions about her had spread too far.
She hasn't been in the news in the past couple of months, however, so maybe she and her family can regain some level of normalcy.
There is another thing KnightWRX is right about in his last post: A good percentage of supersize people eat for reasons other than the love of food. They often get the signal that they're full, but ignore it. Food addiction does exist, and can be as difficult to manage as alcoholism or drug addiction.

I too care way more about what a stranger who sees me using a phone might think than I do how it actually works. Those are companies people don't get attached to. Apple and other tech companies are a much more personal choice, generally. It probably also helps because those people are excited that Apple is making more money, allowing them to deliver more new and innovative products then would be possible with lower cash flow.
I guess I must be old school, I'm a consumer and I think about my wallet before the corporations treasure chest. Apple isn't pumping most of the profits back int the company or paying it out to shareholders. It's sitting in the bank. Or maybe they have something unimaginably huge in mind and I guess that is a possibility.
