Apple will eventually support every network, and with that lock up the cell market for a generation. Excellent plan: Start with ATT, prefect the phone, roll out perfected versions slowly, get their data center up offering some free cloud-based system, streamlining the app stores, thereby slowly but surely eating the market share of other vendors.
    Brilliant.
Prediction: In 5 years only a few will have a fleeting memory of what Android was. Like the Palm Pilot.

I doubt it. If you don't have a US Centric view and look elsewhere, you'll see Android is gaining and passing the iPhone even in markets where both platforms are available on the same carriers. Here, Rogers sells a metric ton of Android devices, Bell pushes them out and Telus too. I see tons of Nexus One and HTC Desires around, tons of Motorola Milestones and even more Captivates.

Yet all these people had a choice of getting an iPhone too. They opted for Android.

So let's not get ahead of ourselves with all the Apple cheerleading and think a move to a new set of frequencies would mean world domination for Apple. It doesn't. But it does open up the option of the iPhone on carriers that support these, which is good for consumers (more carriers = more competition for plans).

Played terrible but did see a red fox out on the course. :D

Took the photo with my iPhone 4 for a ways away (Probably 50 yards) used the HDR setting, came out a lot better than the non HDR photo.

Very cool, I've worked at this course (http://www.tavistockcc.org/) the past two years and it was always a joy seeing wild life.

I'm excited about the update. I plan on getting a new iMac shortly after OS X Lion comes out.

I'm really hoping for an inexpensive SSD primary drive and 2TB secondary "spinning" drive.

A solid video card would be nice, but I really don't game that much, so that's not a deal killer.

I expect this may be the last of the classic 2005-style (L bracket, screen with "chin") iMacs produced. In 12-18 months I expect Apple will launch a new style of iMac with no "chin" and a drafting table style multi-touch screen.

I would really like to see how they installed this.

As far as I know, a web page can't save and install files, so how does the adware get installed in the first place. Does it trick the user into running an app? If so, then I wouldn't consider that a security hole.

I could have sworn my iResq back was bigger than the stock black one. That's funny it's in spec of the actual OEM one now haha.

My Vulcan still fits but its a tighter fit.

The one thing that Apple TV is missing an actual TV could incorporate in the bezel is a FaceTime/Skype Camera. There are TVs on the market, marketing Skype integration, albeit with ugly bar mounted top cameras instead of integrated ones, but that is what we need for home video chats with relatives.

But really just add a FaceTime app to the Apple TV 2, and then either an integrated camera, or a micro-USB webcam using the Apple TV 2 USB port.

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that work–can't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....

No, he and like 7 others left Engadget because they didn't like how (AOL, owner) were trying to make them push content on the website. They are forming a new site with SBNation that will launch this fall. You can tell who the real talent was, as Josh got the break on this story and Engadget did not.

Yeah. I'm sure it was his "talent" that got the break on the story.

He couldn't have possibly made it up to get a pile of page hits.

I just updated mine and there is a noticeable difference in speed with this update. It is much faster in opening applications and text messages.

I'm noticing a little quicker general UI navigation, but the third party apps still don't show their launch animation unless opened first, exited, and then launched again. Only once loaded into the memory can you go from app to home screen to app and see the full animation.

Yet, oddly, Apple's stock apps are entirely unaffected.

I thought I did everything right but... I did find that it was running another wu on 8 cores after I set it up, duh. Fixed that but it still won't pick up the bigadv so I thought maybe they are out of them? it will pick up normal wu's if it can't get bigadv one's. And maybe I need more than 6 GB of ram?

check out this thread (http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?t=10697). near the bottom it says about a new binary

It is usable, but when you use it on your lap, it gets warmer and the CPU throttles down, resulting in slower times. I don't use it much so it works, and is under warranty... I rests on a laptop stand. It is the original 1.6Ghz, but seeing how some reputable magazine saw the slowdowns on the 2.13Ghz even more, not tempted to upgrade.

Yes. It's a great machine and very capable. I don't experience any overheating issues or such. However, at night, when I'm asleep, I run it on a cooling pad in the kitchen for those "just-in-case" moments. However, during the day, I just run it without the cooling pad since it's pretty loud.

wow. i'm very surprised that ya'll are folding on an air. it seems the fans come on my air when watching a youtube video.

Got to love those championing Samsungs televisions.

Horrible, cheap, nasty, overly plastic, flimsy pieces of *****.

Their LED's and Plasma's are reasonable, but I'll never touch their LCD's again.

Had them, sold them, put Bravias through the house. Sorted.

Is there any such thing as an LED TV? Other than that $2500, 11", Half-HD, OLED thingie?

Any TV that says "LED" in big letters on a sticker IS an LCD TV. It just has an LED backlight. (Actually, those bogus phosphor-coated "LEDs" that are really fluorescentsjust excited by a blue LED instead of a mercury-vapor tube).

I know I'm going to get labeled as a mac zealot and linux apologist for asking this, but isn't it weird how the project spent ALMOST ALL OF ITS TIME looking for ways to crucify OS X/Linux, but they avoided MS like the plague, as if they were afraid to make them look bad?

"I didn't have much time left for working on Microsoft Windows but I've received the most helpful feedback from the MSRC"

    Riiiight. :p

Couldn't that be just because Windows security (or lack thereof) has already been thoroughly examined by the industry at large and therefore wasn't as high a priority?

Obviously Google has the same opinion as other Android fans... marketshare is king.

Although... in the business world... cash is king.

Congratulations Google... you now have a lot of marketshare. What are you gonna do with it?

Oh yeah... you're an advertising company. I forgot!

    And thats just it.

Google hasn't found a way to capitalizes on its smart phone market share.

So even if they get 75% of the market and Apple keeps its 25%, in terms of revenue Apple is still going to "win".

One of the best parts of my recent vacation was swimming with, and hand feeding, the stringrays at Stingray City, a sandbar off Grand Cayman Island where a large population of them congregate. While they look "frisky" here, they were quite gentle, and reminded me of puppies begging for food (squid). http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5070/5598967349_29046c42f3_z.jpg

Am i the only person who is relieved that the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 aren't coming out anytime soon? I feel like i've lucked out buying an iPhone that isn't revised in a year of me buying it! I would be devastated if an iPad 3 came out in september, i don't like being constantly last generation. Plus the IP4 and iPad2 are pretty great as they are

Yup, I feel the same. Get as much as possible out of my current iPhone before having to upgrade. It really hurts the wallet if I want to upgrade every year. :D

I agree that it should be cheaper. Tiger introduced a lot. And Panther introduced Expos.

Actually, you know what I missed out?
    SpotLight! ....

Don't have any use for Expose, but I use Spotlight quite a bit.

I think Panther was hit or miss for those first few weeks. Some people had major problems, I didn't.

Panther was fine for me; if I'd stuck with that version, then I probably would have been OK.

OS X "Kernel Panics" are transparent :)

    That's a neat trick, but it's still a crash. ... :)

For the record, I've had errors on both ends. XP ones have been a lot more annoyingfor me at least.

OSX was my problem, which I did find surprising.

yeah i know. i read that they would add them, but if they haven't by now, i don't think they will

Strange it hasn't been done yet. It would help as we struggle to take on ClubLexus as they have raised their production very close to our level.

On another note, it looks like the Gulftown 6 core that will be next in the Mac Pro are screaming. It will be hard to resist getting a 12 core machine (24 with hyperthreading) unless the price is ridiculous. Should be good for 60k PPD ;)

Can you open a third party app (like a game or news app) that isn't already running in the background and let us know if the launch animation runs or whether it still just "pops" on screen like in 4.3 and 4.3.1 ...

I'm glad more regular people are starting to notice this as well. As soon as I saw signs of it in 4.2.1 I knew this was the usual slow down we come to expect, although they started early this time around.
